Last night my church gathered together for the last of our Wednesday worship services. We watched a video teaching by Louie Giglio called How Great is Our God. In it Louie tried to give a picture of just how big God’s creation is.
Our earth is an amazing place, pretty big too. But did you know almost a million earths could fit inside the Sun?
And our sun is not really that big of a star. The largest star discovered so far is Canus Majoris. It’s so big that 7 quadrillion earths could fit inside it. That’s 7,000,000,000,000 earths. If we replaced our sun with Canus Majoris it’s surface would be somewhere around Saturn’s orbit. Amazing!
Here’s a clip I found on YouTube from the Louie Giglio’s talk showing the relative sizes of earth and some star.
Just as amazing, Louie went on to talk about the cell adhesion molecule, Laminin, which is what holds our bodies together. The same God who created this universe that is so massive, created this tiny, yet critical molecule that holds us together. What to know what it looks like? Check out this video:
If there was one thing about the talk that seemed a little awkward to me it was the way the audience responded at times, or rather didn’t respond. When we go to the theater and see a great performance, we give a standing ovation right? When we watch our favorite football team score a touchdown we jump up, shout, and start high-fiving the people around us. When we go to a concert, we scream and yell at the top of our lungs for hours.
Isn’t our God like a trillion times better than that?!?!
Aren’t the things he’s done like a quadrillion times bigger than that?!?!
How about if we stand up and give our amazing God the praise he deserves!!!
Let’s give it up for the God who spoke this wonderful planet into being!
How about a round of applause for the God who breathed massive stars into existence!
Let’s hear it for the God who made galaxies with billions of stars! And them made billions of those galaxies!
Lets give a hand to the God who is so big and yet cares enough for us to hold us together physically with Laminin and emotionally with his love and spiritually with his Holy Spirit!
Let’s give a shout out to the God who raised Jesus from the dead! Who defeated death itself!
And that’s what we did last night – a standing O for our awesome God!
Well said. Thank you for this great reminder. What an awesome God we have for a Father.
